Exfoliate and moisturise the day before your tan is applied. This will remove dead skin so the tan is on a new smooth layer of skin.

Shave or wax the day/night before NOT ON THE DAY.

Don't moisturise on the day as this will create a barrier.

Try and avoid perfume or perfumed moisturiser on the day.

Its advisable to remove deodorant or anti perspirant before the tan as it can discolour underarms.

Remove make up before the session.

Bring dark loose clothing and flip flops to wear after the tan and underwear of your choice during the tan. (the tan does wash out of most clothing but old clothing is advised)

Leave your tan to develop for at least 8 hours. (ideally overnight)

Avoid tight clothing for at least 5 hours.

Avoid sitting on light fabrics until you've showered as the colour guide can cause discolouration.

Don't panic when you shower if the water runs brown - this is just the colour guide washing away.

Don't shave for 12 hours.

Moisturise regularly using oil and perfume free moisturiser.

Avoid long hot baths and showers as these speed up the exfoliation process.

Pat your skin dry after showers to avoid rubbing away your tan.

Avoid swimming pools as the chlorine can affect the tan.

How does it work?

The active ingredient in spray tan is dihydroxyacetone (DHA). This causes a reaction with the amino acids on the outer layers of the skin. This reaction causes the colour of the skin to change producing your tan.

DHA starts to react within 2 hours of application and continues to do so for 8 hours hence why you shouldn't wash for 8 hours

How long will it last?

Everyone’s key question!! However the answer varies for everyone - It completely depends on your skin type and lifestyle. i.e. swimming will fade it faster.

Your skin naturally exfoliates everyday so body brushing and exfoliating will help prolong it.

In general the tan will fade in 5-7 days but with certain people it will last longer and those with a drier skin will notice areas that need light exfoliation

Is Spray Tan safe?

Yes DHA has been used in the cosmetic industry for 30 years and was listed with the FDA in 1973.
It is safe for use in cosmetics and to colour the skin.
DHA is derived from glycerine (vegetable origin), which is commonly used in cosmetics and food.
DHA is absorbed into the body, this makes spray tanning safe for those that are pregnant.

SPRAY TANNING DOES NOT CONTAIN SPF SO BE SURE TO PROTECT YOUR SKIN IF YOU ARE GOING TO BE EXPOSED TO THE SUN.
